Each month the library focuses on a specific genre of literature. This month is Mystery Month! Ask your child to recommend a good mystery.
Here are some mystery vocabulary words:
Mystery: something that is secret and unknown
Alibi: an excuse a suspect uses to show he or she was somewhere other than at the scene of the crime when the crime was committed
Clue: a fact or object that helps to solve the mystery
Detective: character trying to solve the mystery
Evidence: something that helps prove who committed the crime
Red herring: a false lead that throws the detective off track
Suspect: character believed to have possibly committed the crime
Witness: character who saw the crime being committed
